We monitor the Macintosh virus scene DAILY. Inevitably, some destructive turkey who tries to pass for a human being will write a new virus, Trojan Horse or worm, and we at Shulman Software Co. shall sound the alarm and pounce on the offending entity (the virus) with lightning speed (can we also leap tall buildings in a single bound?).
As part of our continuing customer service, at no additional charge, we send each VirusDetective registered user our Virus Alert mailings to notify him/her of the new search string(s) which will defend their Macintoshes from damage by newly discovered viruses, Trojan Horses and worms. The user adds the new search string to his/her existing set of search strings (s)he already has in his/her version of VirusDetective 5.x (or later).

I) A LITTLE ON SEARCH STRING PROGRAMABILITY…
VirusDetective protects your Macintoshes from HTDs because it provides you with the means to search for the “fingerprints” an HTD leaves behind AFTER it infects a file that is about to be added to your disk but BEFORE it can infect your files and disks. In technical jargon, these fingerprints are called “resources.”
VirusDetective searches resources by means of various matching criteria called “search strings”. The search strings are programable – you can change them, add new ones and delete old ones. It is generally known that VirusDetective was the PIONEER and INNOVATOR in Macintosh anti-virus software by being the FIRST anti-virus Macintosh program to be programable (customizable) but also its use of a search string method!
VirusDetective’s being customizable means you don’t have to purchase a new update of VirusDetective every time an HTD appears on the scene. When a future HTD is discovered, all that is required of you is to input the new search string into the version of VirusDetective you already have!
